Spring is in the air ! It's been a nice change in the weather these last couple weeks .With water temps rising the bite is getting better every day . The red fish are still in there holes in the backcountry every trip has been producing many fish over slot with a whole lot of reds within the slot .  Live shrimp free lined back to the holes has been working the best, soft plastics are also holding their own working them real slow in the holes . The trout are also being caught right along  side of the reds in the backcountry . Trout on the outside are really starting to heat up ! Working the yellow bottom on a incoming tide has been the trick this week throwing Miro-dines is my absolute favorite way of fishing them this time of year. Fishing them with a 1/8 ounce jig head with a white or a watermelon soft plastic will also get the job done . Sheephead are all over the nearshore rocks with limits coming in everyday. They also are quick to take shrimp and jigs . Set up upcurrent and set a chum bag this will get them in the mood . I Have have found that a outgoing tide has been producing the best bite with the sheephead. Tight Lines Captain Carey      Southern Slam Outfitters

Fishing report for March 14th for the Crystal River area waters of the Nature Coast. It has been really warm and the fish have been going crazy with the abundance of bait fish gathering in the shallows. The bite has been really good for redfish and trout the last few weeks. However this is probably going to change a bit.

Now we have a very strong cold front getting ready to hit the area for the next few days. Temps are supposed to dip down in the upper 20’s to the lower 30’s for the next couple of days. The high temperatures are only supposed to be 50’s and 60’s. We will see how this strong cold front affects our fish’s habits.

December 15th 2016 Fishing Report for Crystal River Homosassa Yankeetown

The fishing has been really great this December. This is just how it has been. It is really warm (in the mid seventies to upper 80's at times) for this time of year. We have also had a few front come through to cool things off a bit. However the fishing has been just as hot or hotter! We have been catching Lots of nice Snook, Trout with a few Big Gator Trout in the mixed bag. The Redfish fish bite has steady as well. We have had a few days this week when we have been able to just keep hooking up with one nice fish after another. Call today to book your next trip.

With the weather cooling off the bite is starting to turn on. I have been getting great fishing reports from all the guides in Homosassa and Chassahowitzka. Everything seems so hungry. This is good. Call a Captain today for a fishing charter or guide service.

The Nature Coast Fishing Report in Crystal River is hot. The Trout and Redfish bite is going stronger than ever. We are getting great results for Trout and Redfish with live shrimp and artificial baits. I was fishing with Mike Ziegler. He is the Charter captain for Salt Face Charters in Homosassa, Crystal River, Chassahowitzka and the Nature Coast.

Pompano have been chewing as well. I had never eaten Pompano before. Let me tell you it is awesome. Captain Mike caught the Pompanos and was nice enough to share.

The Snook are here! The Snook are hitting it hard.

Book your trip with a Nature Coast Fishing Guide for the best results.
